This month we catch up with our Compliance officer, Shahib, who talks about what his job role entails on a day-to-day basis and how he likes to wind down in the evenings after work. Take a read to find out more.

Can you give us a two sentence bio about yourself?

If I had to sum up my position in the office, it would be a full-time compliance officer, part-time team morale assistant haha!

What do you do at MLG Healthcare on a daily basis?

As a Compliance Officer, I am tasked with ensuring documents received from candidates meet the requirements expected in order for them to be able to go out to work! It might sound very dull and straightforward, but honestly, it is so varied that I can promise no two tasks are ever the same! Apart from that, I support other departments within the organisation and ensure people are kept happy and full with snacks throughout the day!

What do you enjoy most about your job?

The thing I enjoy most about my job is that no two tasks are ever the same, which really does keep me on my toes throughout the day! This is really beneficial for me as I believe it is the best way to utilise the skills I have developed throughout my life! I also really enjoy that through my job, I am able to interact with all the various departments within the company.

What advice were you given in your career that has stuck with you?

One of the greatest pieces of advice I was given was at the start of my working life, which was that ‘any opportunity given is what you make of it’. It’s a phrase which I really agree with and feel can be used for most situations in life.

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

It’s really funny, growing up I was so obsessed with my Playstation that I wanted to become a video game designer! What makes it worse is that I’m the least creative person I know!

How do you relax when you’re not at work?

My favourite way to unwind is to watch series and movies! I absolutely love going to the cinema as much as possible! I do watch a lot of stuff online like TV series and Anime too.

What accomplishment are you most proud of?

The accomplishment I’m most proud of was finishing my Undergraduate Law Degree! It felt like a long time coming when I’d finally graduated this summer.

What is your most treasured possession?

It’s probably going to seem really cliché, but my most treasured possession is my mobile! But that’s purely for all the memories I’ve got saved on it from over the years!

Tell us something different about yourself?

Chances are, if you come over to visit me in the office, I will ask you a quirky question!

Next month we’ll be talking to another member of the MLG Healthcare team where they’ll answer some of our monthly spotlight questions.
